Looking to the Future

The future governance and management of Kings Moat is becoming an increasingly important topic for residents.

The local Member of Parliament, Alphra Brandreth is preparing a survey to be sent to Kings Moat residents, seeking views on how the community should be governed in the future. This provides an opportunity for residents to consider the current arrangements and the possible options for the years ahead.

Additionally, the recent approval by Cheshire West and Chester Council of the Notice of Motion "Supporting Commonhold, Leasehold Reform, and Tackling Privately Managed Estates" demonstrates that the challenges experienced on privately managed estates are now recognised at a local authority level. Through the creation of a cross-party group and support for wider legislative reform, the Council has acknowledged the importance of improving the experience of residents living on modern housing developments.

Whether the current arrangements remain in place or evolve over time, any significant changes would need to follow the appropriate legal and democratic processes, including public consultation as required.

To support informed discussion, the Kings Moat Community website has brought together a series of factual information pages explaining how the current governance arrangements operate and outlining a number of potential future models.

These include the roles of Cheshire West and Chester Council, Dodleston Parish Council and Wrexham Road Management Group aka RMG.

As Kings Moat continues to evolve from a housing development into an established community, future milestones are expected to include:

With several hundred additional homes still to be built, Kings Moat will continue to grow and change over the coming years. As Kings Moat continues to develop into one of the borough's largest new communities, these conversations are likely to become increasingly important.
