University Research Invitation – Kings Moat Residents
The Kings Moat Community website was recently contacted by a University of Sheffield MSc student seeking participants for research into flood risk management at Kings Moat as part of a Master's dissertation.
The research is exploring how surface water flooding is managed in new housing developments, including the effectiveness of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and other flood mitigation measures.
Kings Moat residents are invited to share their experiences and opinions.
Whether you have experienced flooding or simply have views on drainage, green spaces or flood management, your feedback would be valuable. No specialist knowledge is required.
Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be handled in accordance with the University of Sheffield's ethical research procedures.

About the Researcher
The researcher is studying for an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Sheffield, with a particular interest in sustainable development and green infrastructure.
Kings Moat has been chosen for the case study because the Researcher currently lives in Chester and grew up in the area, making it a local development of particular interest. Kings Moat is within walking distance of their home and they have followed progress of the developemnt with interest over the years.
Flood risk management is an important part of the planning process for every new-build housing development. As Chester's newest and largest development, Kings Moat provides an opportunity to better understand how these measures work in practice by learning from residents' experiences.
The research will also involve discussions with planners and other relevant professionals to gain an understanding of the technical processes that underpin flood risk management and to provide context for the findings from residents.
